This Central Coast project by Cakebread is producing classic wines at great prices. This bottling begins with clean and expressive aromas of blackberry, black pepper and dark spice on the nose. The palate is easygoing with red to black fruits, light pepper and a hint of mocha.
Aromas of blackcurrants, tobacco leaves, dried herbs and wild blackberries. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with fine tannins and balanced acidity, giving flavors of mulberries, cedar and mocha. Plush and generous, with a complete finish.
Dark chocolate and black plum are framed in tobacco and Bay leaf. Savory and rich but not over the top, this red is well balanced, with supple tannins.
This pitch-black colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Bezel in Paso Robles opens with a mild ripe blackberry and oak bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel balanced, round and dense. The flavor profile is a concentrated blackberry and black currant blend with notes of stony minerality and black tea. I also detected some hints of loam and black licorice. The finish is dry and its well managed refines tannins are nicely sustained.
