This energetic, ripe white packs apricot and nectarine notes that show beautiful fruit purity. Powered by crushed stone minerality and pink grapefruit–laced acidity, this has a medium-weight palate marked by dried green herbs and salted lemon rind.
Stunning citrus fruit, generous body and excellent concentration with a vibrant acidity makes this a very expressive and appealing dry riesling, that does all the things people expect from Sancerre which it doesn’t always deliver. Long invigorating finish
Aromas of forest floor and white pear flesh waft out of the glass, offering just a hint of petrol. This is a handsome wine, with perky acidity and white melon notes set against a backdrop of wet slate, lemon zest and evergreen trees. The finish takes an earthy turn, which only makes it feel all the more like you’re in the forest or in the presence of a very tasteful cologne. As the long finish wears on, some of that white pear reappears. It invites you to keep sipping.
Olivier Humbrecht selects this from his old vines in Turckheim, averaging 52 years of age, on the rich soils of the valley floor. It’s a ripe 2018, so ripe that Whitney Asher of Brava in Lenox, Mass., described it as “a big, balanced baker—a big fat guy you know can make pie.” A bright, joyous riesling, fragrant with white rose scents, high energy with complex layers of richness.
A joyful Alsace dry riesling that’s brimming with citrus and floral aromas, plus notes of peach and melon. So lively and playful, in spite of the considerable substance, this medium-to full-bodied wine has a long, dry and stony finish. Beautiful balance! From biodynamically grown grapes.
