The 2021 Hermitage Blanc Le Chevalier de Sterimberg is a varietal Marsanne using grapes from up to 35-year-old vines. Swirling the glass stirs up fragrant spring blossom, white peach, quince, lemon flesh and green apple aromatics. Offering crisp freshness and an elegant mouthfeel, the 2021 ends with good drive on the sapid finale.
The 2022 Hermitage La Chapelle Blanc Le Chevalier de Sterimberg unwinds with fragrant linden blossom, green apple, white peach, lemon flesh and lime skin. Medium- to full-bodied and crisp, the 2022 brings it home with subtle phenolic bitterness on the sapid finale. It aged 90% in 16-hectoliter concrete eggs and the remainder in a combination of barriques and demi-muids, with very little new oak.
… An animating freshness that makes this full-bodied dry white feel surprisingly light on its feet. Delicate fresh almond, candied citrus rind and verbena aromas are wrapped around an imposing mineral core.
A vibrant, precise and dense blend of 87% marsanne and 13% roussanne. The nose expresses aromas of kumquats, citrons, verbena, wild herbs and mild spices. It’s medium-bodied with bright acidity. Sharp and intense, with such drive. Powerful, with a succulent development on the mid-palate. Refined and lively with a long, focused finish.
Two-thirds Marsanne and one-third Roussanne that was brought up all in larger concrete tanks, the 2022 Hermitage Le Chevalier De Sterimberg Blanc is bright and chiseled, with honeyed orange, minty herbs, crushed citrus, and sappy flower-like aromatics. These carry over to the palate, where the wine is medium-bodied, has a fresh, focused, elegant mouthfeel, and a salty, mineral-laced finish.
