The 2021 Résonance Vineyard Pinot Noir has broody aromas of pomegranate, black cherry, iodine, forest floor and amaro. Despite its concentrated, floral flavors, it has an elegant structure of silky tannins and vibrant acidity and a very long, nuanced finish.
Its aromas unfurl slowly, segueing from cranberry sauce, rhubarb and aniseed to mushrooms, autumn leaves and wildflowers. The light-bodied palate features concentrated yet detailed flavors. It has a tea-like astringency, vibrant acidity and a long, dynamic finish.
Coming from own-rooted vines planted in 1981 in Yamhill-Carlton, the 2022 Pinot Noir Resonance Vineyard offers wonderfully layered notes of crushed fresh cherries, pine spice, sweet herbs, and forest earth. Aged for 18 months in 30% new French oak barrels and revealing a touch more body, it’s medium-framed, with ripe tannins and a light umami undertone, although it’s lovely and pure throughout. A very well-styled wine with good structure, it’s going to be worth snapping up from Jadot’s Resonance Estate, which is led by Guillaume Large. Drink 2024-2040.
Tight with tension, this Pinot is slow to reveal itself. Opens to blueberry and guava flavors laced with forest floor, stony minerality and dusky spice tones as this builds structure toward broad-shouldered tannins. Needs time
Darkly floral and brooding, the 2021 Pinot Noir Résonance Vineyard slowly evolves with an earthy blend of woodland berries, underbrush and licorice. This is a lifted and pure style, with vibrant acidity enlivening tart red berries and hints of sage as savory spices form toward the close. The 2021 finishes structured and long yet remarkably fresh, as a saturation of fine-grained tannins adds a classically dry sensation.
