Dry white wine from the lower elevations of Turckheim where alluvial deposits consist of a mix of stones. This area warms quickly and tends to produce ripe and generous wines.
The weather patterns were unusual yet resulted in a fine high-quality crop in most locations. The winter was extremely cold, and total rainfall for January through July was more than twice the normal amount. This replenished the soil moisture while the vines growth cycle was largely undisturbed. The summer months brought more stable, warm and dry conditions. Harvest proceeded over a two-month period, which allowed a precise approach to each terroir.
Tasting Note
This is a dry Riesling (Indice 1) yet with a broad and opulent appeal which features notes of ripe citrus with damp earth and hints of white flowers.
Food Pairing
As a dry Riesling this is supremely versatile, pairing nicely with fish and meat with sufficient acidity to counter fat plus expansive richness to offset spice.
