Located in the historical heart of Saint-Joseph, La Croix des Vignes takes its name from a cross planted at the top of the vineyard. The 25-year-old goblet trained Syrah vines are planted in decomposed granite soil on a steep 45-percent terraced slope with an exposure South to South-West. The bedrock has been exposed in several places due to erosion over the past 400 million years. The organic grapes are hand-harvested and destemmed. The maceration lasts three weeks with gentle pump overs. The wine is aged for 12 months in Frech oak barrels – 15% of which are new – and concrete eggs. It has the potential to age up to 20 years.
