This is Tenuta di Biserno's founding wine. The label depicts a wild boar (cinghiale) and the name “Insoglio” is the place where the wild boar goes to root and roll. The cinghiale is an expression of the soul and culture of the Maremma. Insoglio di Cinghiale is richly fruity, exquisitely structured, and its strong territorial character offers smooth drinkability and extreme versatility.

Harvest Note
From the end of winter to mid-August, the 2022 season was dry and warm compared to average, peppered with rain between April and May. The low rainfall warded off the risk of fungal diseases, contributing to the development of healthy, high-quality grapes despite a slight reduction in yields. The situation was stable until August, which brought unexpected rainfall that was particularly beneficial to the later ripening varieties, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Thanks to the careful supervision of the teams, the plants did not suffer any water-related stress. The 2022 harvest began towards the end of August when the Syrah and Merlot grapes were picked, strictly during the coolest hours of the day. It continued with the Petit Verdot in mid-September and was completed before the end of the month with the Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Tasting Note
The wine is a brilliant, deep purplish red, with violet hues. The bouquet offers a complex array of aromas: from fruity, attributable to cherry and sour cherry, to elegant and well-integrated peppery and boisée spices, closing with nuances of rosemary and myrtle, typical of the Mediterranean maquis. The entry onto the palate is fresh and vibrant, thanks to a nice acidity that sustains the mouthfeel. Fragrant, with a juiciness characterized by red fruits. Well-rounded tannins are present in the finish which closes with outstanding persistence.

About the Grape

Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is adaptable to various growing conditions, and is known for its low yield and late ripeness. It generally produces full-bodied wines with substantial acidity and tannins.
Merlot
Merlot makes plump, succulent wines to drink young or opulently massive wines for aging. Has silky, blackberry and currant fruit, with spice, earth, tobacco and chocolate notes, and soft tannins.
Petit Verdot
Petit Verdot makes a dark, firmly structured, tannic wine with superbly balancing acidity, and fresh, full flavors and aromas of spice, pepper and black fruits with notes of violets.
Syrah
Syrah has seductively dense, rich, chewy black berry aromas and flavors, with notes of tar, wood smoke, bacon, leather, chocolate, and sometimes violets. The tannins are firm yet elegant.
