The gravely soil of Herrenweg Vineyard is particularly well-suited to producing aromatic and fruity Gewürztraminer wines since this grape variety needs, more than any other variety planted in Alsace, a perfect physiological ripeness and therefore a little bit more sunshine and heat. Zind-Humbrecht’s dedication to terroir expression guides all winemaking practices, which include extended pressing cycles, abbreviated clarification cycles (to retain natural yeasts and proteins in the must), natural malolactic fermentation and extended aging on the lees. The wine is aged 18 months in 40-year-old French barrels.
Elegant combination of exotic fruits, citrus and light rose aromas, very typical of this vineyard. The palate has a refined power with a smooth finish.
