Shades of Rose is a lightly sweet rose with plenty of fruit and mineral notes. It is made with Riesling and Pinot Noir. Shades of Rose is from Germany’s Mosel Region, on the steep slopes of the Mosel river. This region is famous for its vineyards comprised primarily of slate, which imparts a mineral characteristic to the wines.
Harvest takes place in late fall, ensuring the grapes have a long time to reach optimal ripeness. After harvest, the Riesling and Pinot Noir grapes are fermented separely in temperature controlled tanks, preserving the delicate fruit. Following fermentation this unique pairing of wines is expertly blended, balancing perectly the intense fruit notes of the Riesling and the delicate color and acidity of the Pinot Noir.
This Riesling-based Rosé is a beautiful shade of ballet slipper pink with a bouquet of fragrant red berries, including raspberries and strawberries, and a subtle hint of floral notes. On the palate, the wine is delicately sweet and with flavors of stone fruit, that finishes with a mineral note. The wine has a bright acidity that balances the fruitiness and adds a long, refreshing finish.
