The vineyards of the Beaune appellation include 36 Premiers Crus, thanks to their situation on sloping hillsides well exposed to the sun. Fruit for this wine is a blend of grapes from 21 Premier Cru vineyards throughout the appellation. Red wines from the north are light in color with soft fruit flavors; those from the central and southern areas are powerful, tannic and deeply colored. The Pinot Noir grapes are destemmed and fermented in open vats for up to one month to extract color, aroma and tannins. Individual Premiers Crus are aged in oak barrels for 15 to 18 months before blending.
This is an elegant wine, quite full-bodied, with aromas and flavors of red and black fruit and spices and the firm tannins that contribute to favorable development. This bottle will develop for 10 to 15 years.
