One of the two Grands Crus within Flagey Echezeaux commune, Grands-Echezeaux borders Clos Vougeot, facing east–southeast on calcareous soil. The Pinot Noir grapes are fermented in vats for up to one month to extract color, tannins and aroma, and then the wine is matured in oak barrels for 18 to 20 months before bottling.
This powerfully structured wine has intense red fruit and spice aromas and flavors. It will develop in the bottle for 15 to 20 years.
