The cordon trained, spur-pruned vines for Mai A Letto grow at an elevation of 850 feet in soil that is rich in clay.  The vineyard lies in the foothills of the Apennine Mountains between the Adriatic Sea and highest peak of the Apennine range, the famous Gran Sasso d’Italia.
