This wine has a high percentage of Muscat ‘petit grain’ or Muscat d’Alsace. A much more heat resistant and higher acidity than the Muscat Ottonel, and actually well suited to warmer vintages. The selection comes from an old vineyard where both colour (red and white berries) can be found. Muscat petit grain doesn’t ripen that quickly as it can take some time to achieve good phenolic ripeness. Luckily, on the warm gravelly valley floor of Turckheim, the vines enjoy longer sunshine hours being more distant from the shadow of the mountains. It is therefore possible to harvest relatively early without high alcoholic concentration. This wine usually ferments very quickly and doesn’t undergo malolactic fermentation.

Harvest Note
2022 avoided the severe frost conditions of the prior year and the vines grew rapidly in the Spring months. The dry and hot conditions kept disease to a minimum but adversely affected flowering and caused a significant reduction in the overall crop size. A few late storms brought needed moisture but also some isolated hail damage. Harvest occured from August 22 to September 20 according to each vineyard's situation.
Tasting Note
the colour is pale yellow/green, quite luminous. The nose reminds of the aromas in the vineyard during flowering. It expresses delicate flowers, some fruits, never overpowering, just like a very delicate perfume. The palate follows perfectly with a delicate structure, almost aerial and lingers on for a long time. Dry finish with the classic varietal tannic structure but also a certain roundness induced by the fruity flavour of the wine. The mouth feels like soft velvet and is already so easy to enjoy. This wine will go with seafood, salads, crab, fish dishes. Uncomplicated but not simple!
