A forest floor of berries, brambles, wild herbs and soil on the nose. Mixed berries, both macerated and fresh, on the palate play beautifully against anise and licorice, then dark chocolate and coffee, with a seemingly infinite finish held up by tightly coiled but refined tannins
This Brunello boasts an open-knit style with textured tannins and lots of dark fruit at its core. With an ample 120,000 bottles made, the Tenute Silvio Nardi 2020 Brunello di Montalcino is a medium to full-bodied Sangiovese with a combination of dried blackberry flavors and sweetly toasted oak.
The Tenute Silvio Nardi 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Vigneto Poggio Doria (with just 3,500 bottles made) is a very different wine compared to the village expression from this same vintage. Whereas that wine showed more dry fruit aromas, this wine has a sweeter side with plump richness and soft tannins. It also carries more fruit weight and overall textural richness. Between the two, I recommend this one.
Offers a plump, friendly feel, with cherries jubilee, singed cinnamon, red and black tea, and candied pecan notes all swirling through together. There’s a juicy underlay on the finish.
Walnut husk, black cherry paste and black tea notes meld nicely, with underlying cut and tension to offset the sweetness. Delicious.
