Founded in 1851 in Saumur in the heart of the Loire Valley by Etienne Bouvet and his wife, Célestine Ladubay, Bouvet Ladubay is today the largest producer of méthode traditionnelle sparkling wine in Saumur and France’s most awarded (beyond Champagne) for the quality of its cuvées. Bouvet is currently managed by the fourth generation of the family, Juliette Monmousseau.
In the heart of the Loire Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bouvet-Ladubay’s cellars lie in a tuffeau cave and are visited by about 40,000 tourists every year. Tuffeau is a white limestone characteristic of the Saumur region.
