A terroir known for its elegance and charm, the Asili vineyard surrounds an eponymous hamlet. The vineyard has a South to South-West exposure, and the soil is calceareous marl and has a bluish color due to the high content of magnesium and calcium. The vines are 30-35 years old and are thinned of excess bunches at the end of summer. Hand harvested grapes are fermented on the skins in oak vats and then aged for 18 months in average sized oak casks before refinement in the bottle.

Harvest Note
The 2022 vintage was a challenging one. Overall it was warm and dry, with high temperatures and a long summer with scarce rain. The water shortage was so severe that the Regione Piemonte issued a waiver to allow vineyard irrigation. Harvest was an early one, with grapes that revealed excellent qualities.

About the Grape

Nebbiolo
Young Nebbiolo can be tough, acidic and tannic; but mature, its blackberry and wild cherry flavors and aromas develop complex and sublime violet, rose petal, truffle and tar notes.
