2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the modern Chateau des Jacques (although the cellar predates) in the village of Romaneche-Thorins. At that time, the businessman Amédée Rousseau acquired the chateau, its caves, plus 2 hectares of vines. Within 4 years he had acquired another 60 hectares of the best terroirs of Moulin-à-Vent, Fleurie, and Morgon. Then he set about a program of innovations focused on quality and authenticity, all of which were subsequently copied by other wine regions such as Bordeaux and Burgundy.
